I hate to see you go also. I do have a question. Why did you go from Nikon to Cannon? Usually the lens collection keeps you hooked to one or the other. I would have liked to see more of your Mark III photos as I have always enjoyed the way you see things differently than me and the photographs you take.
I saw your post and you have to do what you feel is right, just thought I'd say congrats on the new equipment. Regarding your entry, I didn't want to post during the week, but there was just to much interference in front of the dove and the focus locked on to a branch in front so the focus missed. even with cropping that just wouldn't work. Sometimes you just have to pass on a shot even with the best equipment. Just trying to help and being honest, good luck in your future ventures.
I am so sorry to learn about your losing so many photographs. I'm sure it's a prevalent nightmare for all of us here. I wish you the best in rebuilding your certainly fabulous collection!

Stick around and post some of those horse shots, I really want to see more of what you can do with the Mark III. It is a fine camera and in good hands with you. I envy you with a 500mm. I go up to 400mm and a 2x TC. witch brings the minimum aperture to f/8.
