That looks like my basket of apples that I go to each morning to slice on my oatmeal. And it isn't unusual for me to have a lemon there also, since I have an over abundance of lemons from our tree. Are you sure you didn't come to my house for a photo shoot? Nice photo.
I like this shot. Although my eyes are drawn to the lemon instead of the red.Also if you could( may not have been possible) try to get the lemon more in the thirds instead of the corner. Still a great shot and the lemon does add to the image.
Yes, this shot certainly benefits from the lemon. I find it slightly soft in focus in the lower two thirds. Do you remember how the focus was set for this? (Specific spot, center, manual, closest, etc.)
