Great observations! I remember wishing the bird had been a blackbird, but then the robin's color just seemed to add a bit of life to the picture. Later, I appreciated that it wasn't quite a perfect robin, but rather one in mid-molt, looking beleaguered as if the cemetery drains life from it. Wicked dichotomy!
Nice contrasts here. Color and grey. Focus and blur. Life and death. Plus it nicely illustrates one of the inevitable realities of the fate of a beautiful piece of stone work. But its somehow okay. Very nice photograph.
