I wouldn't call it eerie, rather surreal. There are a lot of complex tones and shading through out the entire image, enough to show the contrast even on the branches and trunk near the ground. Almost like it's out of a storybook, Good work.

Thanks Talegi! 1 hour left. It's been a fun week! If you're on your last check, take a moment to zoom in and smell the flowers!
It's so fun getting such nice comments. Mr Lens. After the race, come out to my neck of the woods, we can go shoot it. I love it when comments include LOVE. Thanks everyone!!
Wish this were mine. Great sky and the wonderful greens really set up this wonderful tree. You composed this very well and your exposure is spot on. 2 votes.
A very intriguing shot and beautifull in its own way depite the tired tree showing teh test of time but still standing to be admired beautifull greats hot vote.
Very nicely done, submitter. I enjoy how the landscape and clouds seem to imitate the haphazard form of the tree. Two for now, and I'll definitely be back!

Thanks - Since this is a sharing site, may I share some things for what it's worth. Editing techniques applied to entire image: Clarify - Bringing out the colors of sky and dark features in clouds. Gamma Adjustment - Darkening entire image all around. Cropping - Placed tree in left 3rd while leaving large oak far right for eye to go. Saturation - Just a touch to bring out the blues and browns. Click of softness - To reduce noise in sky and image reduction
Very nice shot!I love the colors and crispness. Nature can be beautiful at any age.

Ginnie, yes it's a resubmission. I had cropped it in half and mirrored itbut pulled it after agreeing with a comment that original may be better. Then spent most of my day yesterday looking for original in archives without much success. Almost gave up. Finally found it after hours and hours or refiling. Felt compelled to re edit and put it up after all the work that went into digging it up. Glad I did, I forgot about the oak off in the distance and colorful flowers all around. Kinda proud of how it came together. Hope you enjoy it and thanks for comments/votes.
I agree with ginniemae, it looks a little eerie by itself, but wow what stories it could tell!!! I really like this one and how the tree stands alone in the field.

Congrates Cali on another fine entry and finish.

Regardless, it is a beautiful photograph. It looks a little eerrie & spooky by itself, but the colors & sky give it a feeling of serenity. I love it.
Is this a re-submission?
In many ways...it still is.
