bizzarre formation looks like a melted rock. i would have liked to see more of the rocks on the sides, though it may not have added anything to the image

Very interesting shot. Love the rock formation. Might have been interesting to zoom on the hole in the middle and just have the rock around it filling up the rest of the frame. Kinda like a natural frame. Like this one a lot. Great job!

@submitter, I almost put a picture from Fantasy Canyon on. I love going there and looking at all the neat formations and see how some have changed. My son has an Eagle Scout project there. He built the little sitting area in there. It sure is amazing to see the formations and what they are supposed to be. It's to bad that some are falling down though. This was a good topic for our area (if you live out here) since we have lots of places that fit this topic. I'm back to vote too :)

I like the formations and the inverted duck, or Aladdin's lamp(?), but it feels like either the outside formations are cut off or you should have concentrated on the opening more. IMO - Cool formations.

I like how the Hole in the Middle makes me thinks of an Upside down Duck head or a Dinosuar. lol. I have another really cool one. sevral actually so it was really hard to choose what one to put. thanks keep the comment's and Votes coming. Love hearing from you all! Slrcreative. um..how do I put the Data on there? I just have an odd way of taking pictures Point and Shoot and have good luck I guess. that's my Secrete. really. I know what I like see it and if it turns out great if it doesn't then. yeah a bit disapointed but Eh..that's Life. right? live and Learn.

Like this. It looks like the 'silly sand' we used to play with when we were kids... the kind you make formations with underwater. :) The rocks appear to have smooth edges..thinking this might have been underwater at some point. Very interesting shot. Vote

The difficult thing about this entry is trying to decide what part of all the formations there to choose. lol... this is a good sampling and well photographed. The colors, sky and formations look natural. I'd love to see your EXIF data so that I'd learn something more about how to shoot such shots. Good work.

This is a very unique place here in north eastern utah. here is a site that will tell you more about this area: http://geology.utah.gov/surveynotes/geosights/fantasy_canyon.htm

I really like this entry and how it uniquely addresses this week's topic! I agree with DeedleD, "very unusual formations". Your photo has excellent content, good use of shadows and sun and just the right amount of sky, plus take a look at those wisps of clouds to top things off. Bravo for what you have captured in this very interesting rock formation! I'm boosting a little early on this one.
