I don't know if we're voting on this week's topic for photographing excellence or mystery. If photographing, I would like to see some kind of focal point. The value contrast between the very light whatever-they-are and the dark is nice. For the mystery, you get my three votes.

Well, slr, if you had of reflected a bit longer, you may have gotten it. With that being said, it is not a form of duct tape. And it is not a white chain link fence. Need to think of something that is not used in a home. At least I have never seen it in a home before.....hmmmmmmmmm
Let me reflect on this a bit. I just don't know - what is it? If its tape then I'm supposing that the white chain link fence like stuff are filaments to make it stronger or something. Its not some form of duct (or duck) tape is it?

When I took the picture of this mystery item, the lines were off on it. I had nothing to do with that, lol. With it being shot at an angle, it didn't come out right. When I took this, I actually used my macro lens. This item, is found outside. I have never seen it in a home. And it has a specific purpose. You do not wear it, sit on it, drive on it. It is a type of tape as LC figured out. It is also not the color that i have it. I put a high contrast on it.
Well you've had us guessing. As for the image, the top and bottom lines are off just a bit. I'd like to see this shot at an angle with some twist added in, This would add perspective, a focal plane and some movement for the viewer instead of just shooting a flat image straight on. You have great texture here and could have done much more with it, IMO.
It still looks like some type of textile and the outdoors hint makes me want to say patio furniture cushion, but that would be a fabric so that can't be it. I'll keep at it....
Boy, not any type of fabric you say....that eliminates a lot of things. My next guess was going to be a throw pillow but it can't be that. Sure looks like some sort of textile but I'll take you at your word that it's not. I'm stumped.

How about a sun screen / privacy screen like the ones used on dog kennels. They also make tarps out of a similiar material.
