A fine shot. My pic for the best. It has a lot of interesting situations within it. Lots of context, and a number of amazing stories are revealed. Ignore the middle of the picture theories. You are the artist, and you told a beautiful story.. The break in the shell, the roundnesses, the oval rocks, You captured this beautifully. And you didn't muck it up with processing. Even the shadow tells a story, like an eclipse. Good Luck.
Nice clear shot of the sand dollar and I quite like the dark circle. The sand dollar is dead center in the shot which would normally be a bit of a negative for most shots. But the dark circle and the dollars position within it kind of pulls the subject up and over to the thirds. I like this effect very well and wish you knew for sure how it was done. I don't think its a shadow because a shadows edge would fluctuate on various objects. Awwww... I just realized how this could be done.
Great idea for this week. Had it on my mind too. Picked up dozens of sand dollars in South Carolina years ago.

I don't know how that dark area got there. The sand dollar was placed in the water of a small fountain. Maybe it is a shadow from the upper tier of the fountain. There were little birds and they fell out. Thanks for your comments.
Very interesting. Very artsy. I too would love to know the significance of the ring that I would have missed if Cali hadn't mentioned it. I would be interested to know how you created the darker area from the lighter area of the rocks. Great photo!
Oh I love finding sand dollars. Did you find any little birds inside this one? I love that it's in water and the black rocks really set this off. I like the lighting and great clarity of this shot. Is that a shadow of something that makes the rocks on the outer edge lighter than the rocks underneath the sand dollar? Great capture.
great entry for this week's theme and well presented. interesting processing you've accomplished...can't wait to have you tell us how you did it. kudos to you on your entry.

The offset black circle really does make this. A touch more crop off the bottom edge to the glare wouldn't hurt, Good shot.
Nicely done...

Don't you just hate it when this happens!

Hmmm, I'm gonna simmer on this one and see what others say. Fits the theme for sure...just curious about the ring and will be back later.
