Thanks everyone for you support, living in Minnesota I didn't have many options and had to make the best of what I had. I loaded the transformation in the gallery if you are interested.

Hi, I only have time to comment on a couple of my favorites this week. I chose this one for its exceptional framing, lovely sky, golden hour tones throughout the image, and the placement of the lighthouse in the right third with mountains and sunset in the other two thirds. Oh and the clouds are great too. This is one that new photogs can learn from in terms of composition. Max vote. Good luck!

Thanks again all! BuzieB - It's on the North Shore of Lake Superior and is now a State Park about 1.5 - 2 hour drive northeast of Duluth, Minnesota.

Beautiful. Love the coloring...the warmth of the sky at the horizon and brick contrasting with the coolness of the blue grey of the clouds, sky and distant hills.

You were able to pop the colors yet preserve the integrity of the realistic nature of the lighthouse bricks. The angle of view projects up into the light itself, and on past it to the sky. Really nice. Voted!!

Delicious colors and composition. I really enjoy the sunlight behind the lighthouse giving the illusion that the beacon is the source.

One of my favorites ( if not my most favorite) for the week. Love the colors and the sky. The composition is awesome.

Thanks again for the comments all. @ Haralodo, No HDR, auto levels with some tweaks and I played with some other adjustments specific to high, low and mid-tones that I hadn't tried before, as well as the perspective lens corrections. I will post the original and a copy of this with somemore detailed notes if I can remember all of them in the gallery after the week. Thanks again!

Image has a beautiful tone to it. Not sure if it's HDRed or not, but the sky is wonderful and the bricks are gorgeous. I would not crop the red building portion as it adds balance and also provides nice contrasting brick colors. I think the cropping (and now knowing the story) is perfect. Voting now...

Thankyou lenscap and hatterasjack. The extension you see is part of the tower, cropping would take part of the tower and push it right to the edge of the frame. To my right was a second operators building that would have gotten into the frame had I tried to included more of the extension. With the sun on the opposite side, this side of the tower was quite shaded and the clouds in the original shot were very white without much color and I felt that the adjustments to the photo were at the limit without going overboard and looking like, well... Thanks for the comments.

Great potential with this shot. I agree with Jack, but would add, either show all of the building, especially if it's part of the lighthouse or crop it out all together. I would also be tempted to play with that beautiful sky/cloud formation to enhance its beauty. Again, it has GREAT potential. kudos. \lc1

Thanks Cadis - Originally there was room to spare, but @ 17mm the tower had a heavy lean inward as well as a bow to it. I used the lens corrections and it automatically trimmed the edges so a lot was lost including foreground, coastline and water. I was as far back in the corner as possible against a chain link fence and a 100 foot drop to the rocks just on the other side.

Great shot. wonderful position great colours and clarity, Like the light behind the tower. there could of been a touch more height in the framing as too clear the top spike.Well done. Voted
