I do admit it was taken from almost 3/4 of a mile on basic 200 speed film with a 200mm lens. It is Fat Albert of the Blue Angels. I spent almost 4 years around C-130's while growing up. I love those birds, was perhaps the most awesome thing to see the whole squadron returning from a mission. flying low and slow the length of the runway one after another, doing a 180 and returning back around the base to land and taxi in. It was very surreal thinking back to the days of WW2 and waiting for the bombers to return to base...
Actually I like the tight crop because of the perfect diagonal from one corner to the other. But the exposure does need help. I'd like to see this in action. Never knew of a plane like this.
This is a C130 "Fat Albert" using jet assisted takeoff. Probably belongs to the Blue Angels, since that is where most civilians see this technology in action. As for the photo, I find it, like so many others of aircraft in flight, poorly exposed. Typically the camera underexposes for the aircraft because of the bright sky all around. This looks like a tight crop because of all the noise and fuzziness.

Wow! Impressive shot! You'd think it would be approaching its stall angle. Vote.
