In my opinion, the photo deserve more votes!
Thanks Sir, this is a tough crowd, I feel quite inferior to the competition.
One of my favorites out of 74 great entries this week.
Rpl, thanks for the vote and comment on my photo.
Enjoyed this - Peresonally I think flare adds a nice touch. +1
Thanks UA for the awesome comment and boost, I too am a fan of lighthouses.
Came back again. Mostly for my love of lighthouses but also for an awesome photo. Really like it.+1
Thanks Robert for the comment and boost.
Thanks for the link UA. I feel like I've been cheated by my educators haha.
catdog, thanks for the encouragement.
Thanks Kay, glad you liked the shot.
Thanks Stephanie, I never thought of that.

The other lighthouse that the architect was building was Cape Lookout. That lighthouse was painted the black and white diamond shape that was supposed to go on Cape Hatteras lighthouse. I have visited 6 lighthouses in New Jersey and Portland Head lighthouse in Maine.
I think this would be more successful if you used portrait instead of landscape. Landscape makes it appear shorter. Other than that, great job. I like the lens flare, btw/
@UA, I lived in North Carolina for 13 years, and had to take numerous state history courses that covered the lighthouses on our coast. I don't remember any of them mentioning that the architect got his plans mixed up. It makes perfectly good since though! They must have been embarrassed haha.
@unusual, how many lights have you had the opportunity to visit? What's different about the other barber pole light and where is it???
one interesting note: this lighthouse was supposed to be painted a black and white diamond pattern (because it is on the "diamond shoals)but the architect got the plans mixed up with another lighthouse he was building.
@cranky it is a matter of taste. usually it is avoided because it is not actually there in the scene but sometimes helps to add dramatic effect to a photo. still a great shot. and one lighthouse I would love to visit!
It must be a matter of taste--I like the lens glare in this photo.
nice angles, best yet.
Great shot! I agree with unusualangles about the glare from the sun, but really an awesome shot! @unusualangles- thanks for posting the extra information! I love lighthouses too, but I've only seen them in photos. Maybe one day I'll get to see one and get to take pictures of them too! I hope so! :)
I love the glare! Great shot, my favorite of the week so far! :)
23rd tallest in the world! Beautiful shot of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, "the big barber pole". Warning sailors of the Diamond Shoals for aover 100 years. Great technique. I don't like the glare from the sun but otherwise a great shot. PS I am also a lighthouse fanatic!
