Certainly a burst of red. It is hard to find a place for ones eyes to rest. You picked a challenging subject and it looks like you have a plethora of advice to help you approach this one in the future. Great attempt.

Very cool shot. This would be hard because there is so much depth to the subject. There is incredible detail on the focal plain which seems to be deep in the shot. Its very fun to zoom in on and appreciate the details there.

Good color, but the whole picture is out of focus. Try for a F/16 or F/32 if you go fore a close-up shot. The solution is not a macro lens, go for a bigger distance and use the maximum zoom of the lens and a tripod (or stable position) for the camera. AND VERY IMPORTANT USE THE MANUAL FOCUSING. I always get this problem especially with macro lenses where the subject is close to the lens and the camera always struggles to autofocus.

Yes...somewhat abstract. Slightly out of focus. I have bottle brush bushes but they are slightly different than these. Mine are mostly green with dense blooms . I'll take a picture of it and post on my gallery. I think I would have cropped the bottom blurred bloom a bit. How's that for alliteration? :-)

The tree is beautiful when completely in bloom. Each branch has on the end of it a 3-6 inch bud. What you are seeing is one branch flower. Well the majority of it is one flower. There might be a second branch on the right lower corner. But the red fillers pop out and it looks just like a baby bottle brush. When the tree gets bigger these branches start to droop down and it's beautiful. They bloom here in the Desert in March untill July depending on how hot it gets. It was hard for me to focus on one spot because I don't have a macro lens. I'm trying to focus on more on one spot but so far it's blurry. Thank you. :)

Interesting technique. Might have worked better to isolate on focal point flower or bud. Very artistic though and somewhat abstract in composition. GOod luck

beautiful reds. wish I could see just a little more of the tree and a specific focal point. The tree must be beautiful, how often does it bloom?
