this really is quite the unusual capture with both the broken pole and the dog in flight! I agree on the crop, but kudos to you on the sharpness of the shot! When I zoom in, I spot the trees way in the back and can't help but think that you have one incredible shot just waiting for you and your camera. I hope this is close enough that you can take advantage of the obvious opportunity! regardless, kudos to you on your entry.
I have to agree with previous comments. framing this with the base near the bottom of the frame and the top of the pole near the lower right corner would have made a stronger image. Getting the top of the break in the picture would have also been nice. This is something you don't see ever day.
The shot is nice and clear. I like the b&w also. There are some really nice things in this shot. Rolling hills, trees in the far off distance, and the dog is great. For me all those nice things kind of overpower (ooops no pun intended) the broken pole. But, I can also see where you are going with the dog jumping over the downed wires.
It took me a moment to realize what I was looking at. I love how it looks when zoomed in. I think I would have cropped it a little tighter. I like your title. Vote.
Submitter...I see there aren't any comments yet. I DO know how that feels.Don't be discouraged. The race has just begun. There are many good things about this shot. There are also many things that could help. It's still early so hang in there. First, it seems the horizon isn't level. Next, the focal point for me is the dog (which is fun), but finally, the "broken" element isn't really strong in this. But I do like your grey scale balancing and if you were to resubmit this same photo might suggest straightening it, cropping it tighter and putting the broken focal point in the left (3rd most) part of the image. Good luck!

All I can say is, "That can't be good." Very nice broken find.
