Thanks for showing us something interesting about sand dollars that I've never noticed. One idea you might want to try... not sure how tiny these are but just something I'm thinking as I see your shot. Put several strait pins into a soft background so that their tips are close enough together to put each of your subjects on in such a way that the pins can't be seen beneath them. Then you will have some distance that a shallow depth of field will make the background material in softer focus which is kinda nice for macros and make you subjects stand apart from the background. Just an idea.

Thanks lenscap1-I must have taken fifty pictures before I was happy. My camera has a macro setting, but it's a rather inexpensive model. I do have so much fun with it though! Thanks!
how very interesting! I like your unusual take for this week's topic and your use of the light blue background likely to simulate an ocean scene to compliment the sand dollar doves. I like your use of light and mild shadows as well. good luck this week.
