Yes it is Steve..Sometimes it's hard to be objective when you have a subject like this. I like everything about aviation, and when I see one of my favorite planes, it's hard not to vote for it over something else that may be a better photograph.
My number two for the week. Its been a great week for me in viewing, but is hard to look at photography versus my favorite aircraft in deciding favorites.
I am adding another vote so 3 total (my limit). I would like to reiterate that you are a great photographer. Hope you stay even if you go to another site!
Please stay on with this site!!! We need your high quality entries each week and your astute comments! However, if you do end up leaving GPR, I hope our trails cross some day. You are gifted with an innate talent. Best of luck.
Amazingly clear. I can even see the pilot's profile. Different kind of airplane shot. Blank sky with the land being the backdrop for the plane. Voting.
I am now voteing as said earlier such a great shot with so much clarity and detail of a plane under great speed you hav emade it look like it is standing stll. vote 3
It is a shame I missed your photographs in your gallery. I also own the same Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 push pull zoom and totally agree that is is one of the best lenses ever made. It is the sharpest focusing telephoto lens I own.
Absolutly great shot Love the clarity and that the extreamly fast movement is not shown at all it is as though it is stopped in mid air. Like taht you have shown the edge of the mound or hill where you must have been positioned.I can understand TD comment but do not leav ethe site because of one comment especially as you say you ahve now pulled it from which ever gallery it was on VOTE 3
Don't know who you are and did not see your gallery but based on this image I wish you would stay. We could surely use your talent on this site.

Yea..That is all the zoom I had. I thought about cropping it some, but I wanted the shot to remain as sharp as I could. And yes the D-50 is a great camera. I don't think they should have stopped making them. The Nikon 80-200 f2.8 of course is one of the best lenses ever made in my opinion. I have the older 'push/pull' type zoom. Will let some of the people on this site know where I'am going to go next. I have already deleted all the photo's in my gallery. Thank you for the kind comment PaperChase.
I love the shot. I would have taken less sky to make the rim the top third line. But somtimes in air shows there is not that option due to what is below, unless you could have zoomed in more. Nice clarity and color, your D50 and nice lens do you well! Your next purchase could be a 1.4x teleconverter that will still auto focus for air shows. The 2x is great but more for birds and animals that you would manually focus any way. Please stay and provide us with an opportunity to see more of your photos. Or, let me know where you are going to! Thank you for posting this shot.
Submitter, I hope you reconsider leaving GPR! You are a great photographer and would be very beneficial on this site. I love you photo for this week-I can't stop staring at it! Great!

hatterasjack, thank you the nice comment. I believe I will pull the submission. I'm going to be moving to another site anyway. Again, thanks for the kind comments, and the help!...
Great clear shot, background really enhances subject. We are supposed to remain ANON. In the future pull photo out of gallery before posting for a contest. Watermarks are also not to be placed on entries, mistakes can be overlooked but if it occurs frequently, it will greatly effect votes.
I would lov eto vote on this great quality and very clear shot HOWEVER AS IT IS ALLREADY POSTED IN YOUR GALLERY FOR EVERYONE TO VIEW I feeel I can not you also have various other great shots in your gallery
I posted on this shot shortly after it was entered for the week, but for some reason the comment never made it. This is beautiful in every way I can imagine. Submitter, was this captured at the Grand Junction Air Show? not that it matters. Bravo, and best of luck.
I was using a Nikon D-50, with a Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 lens for this shot. I still use the D-50 a lot. It takes great photo's. As a matter of fact, I used today when one of Grand Daughters over for a while. The color, and detail is still there with that camera. I own 6 Nikon's now, and as far as picture quality goes, I would rate it my #2 camera. Not bad for just 6 megapixels...

always +2
With everything else this has going for it, I really enjoy the bit of flame from the engine and the distortion from the heat plume. Good work.
Nice clear photo. Love to zoom in and enjoy the colors and clarity.

Back for my third and final vote. I can't believe the clarity of this shot. That camera is going on my Wish List, should SSD ever come through!

Before everyone chases this photographer away for rules that are not rules, please tell me who he/she is so I can see the gallery. Thanks.

What a cool shot, you can see the helmet stars on the pilot!
This is great! Love the clarity, even got the exhaust coming out the back. My favorite so far as well!
I think you may have a winner here. The colors, clarity and background make this photo pop. One of my early favorites so far, good luck!
