More likely this software was just de-saturating the image and didn't remove all the color. Check with slr after the voting period and try the free software he uses, it seems to work pretty good.

The conversion was done in Picnik, the program Flickr used to offer. Since B&W is just shades of gray, I guess the blue of the sky was rendered as a shade of gray that looks like color.
Submitter, I like the framing and angles, but would like to know what you did to "convert" this To what you say is B&W. I saw the photo on your link and it is much more colorful, although the concrete and brick are in B&W, there is a bluish tint in the sky and purple saturation in the upper left corner. This is a good subject, but I am curious about the processing because it didn't seem to work the way you think.
this really is a dynamic capture with tack sharp focus and excellent processing to enhance the detail. I, too, would be inclined to crop just a bit more off the bottom and I don't feel at all that you would be compromising the balance in doing so, but instead would minimize the distractions. Just my thought because this has great potential IMO!!! Regardless, I really like what you have going here! kudos!
I think this looks like its in color for me, but I've got old eyes also. :) Its really quite an interesting shot. I too like the diagonal but the fact that the two parts come into the shot from different angles is really nice. Good work.
I went to the site you posted and this is really something in color too! I really like the composition! It looks like it's defying gravity! Thanks for the info submitter!

I really like the diagonal you've created. I can't tell if this is b&w or it just looks like it because of the beams. The sky seems to have a slight color to it (or it's just my old eyes). Great take of this week's theme!

You should see what I did crop out! I wanted the corners to be similar.
This is tack sharp, great lighting and I love the colors. Might suggest a complete crop of the clutter at the bottom of the photo. Nice take on the theme.

I've never said this until now...Ugly, yet intriguing. AND it fits the theme. Good Catch!! Voting later.
